William III purchased Kensington Palace in 1689 which today is a working Royal residence that has been the favourite home of many reigning sovereigns until 1760. The palace is today home to many members of the Royal Family, working offices and is furnished with items from the Royal Collection.
The house was extended by William III shortly after being purchased and has a number of rooms added including a council chamber, chapel and private apartment for The King and Queen.
Queen Victoria was born and raised in Kensington Palace, she even received news of her accession to the throne in 1837 within the walls of the Palace.
