The Royal Archives is a collection of documents housed at Windsor Castle containing information on the Royal Family and British Monarchy over the last 250 years.
Some of the items contained in the collection include personal letters to and from members of the Royal Family and documents on the Royal Household and it’s staff.
Some of the more interesting sets of items within the collection are the personal diaries of members of the Royal Family such as Queen Victoria. Most monarchs keep diaries so when they do, they are added to the archives for safe keeping due to the unimaginable historical significance they hold
The Royal Archives are under strict protection and only select academics are allowed access to the actual documents; however anyone can request information from the written information service with the occasional charge.
